Street Fighter: The Movie (1994)
What happens when you hire one of the guys who wrote “Die Hard” to direct a “Street Fighter” adaptation starring Jean Claude Van Damme as Col. Guile? You get one of the best movies to riff.
This infamous disaster flick (we’re referring to the script, not the plot) tried to bring the classic fighting arcade game to the big screen and it failed on so many level. “Street Fighter: The movie” stars the “Muscles from Brussels” as the American Col. Guile, which is like casting Gerard Depardieu to play Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a biopic. It tried to cram every “Street Fighter” character into one movie. They even tried to make a video game based on the movie that’s already based on a video game. It’s a miracle the fabric of time didn’t fold in on itself.
We premiered our public mockery of “Street Fighter: The Movie” on Jan. 25, 2024 at the Texas Theatre and it’s become one of our most requested titles.
